sMaxine Parker holds a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance from Georgia State University.

sShe studied with Aaron Shearer at the Peabody Conservatory and performed in master classes of Jose Tomás and Pepe Romero.

Maxine Parker was a panelist in the 1989 Classical Guitar Congress, presenting her rote method of classical guitar for very young children, "The Child's Guitar". 

She has just finished writing her third reading book with two CD's, "Growing With The Guitar"

Her young students have been winners in one to five categories each year since 1987 in the Georgia Music Teachers Association auditions, an affiliate of the Music Teachers National Association.
Three guitar students of Maxine Parker won first place (Outstanding Performer) April 15, 2000 in the Georgia Music Teachers Association.  Christina Gordon won the Kindergarten through first grade.  Ben Caitoon won for fourth and fifth grades.  Liliana Edgett won for sixth through seventh grades.  Liliana was chosen to perform at the GMTA convention as a concert recitalist in Dahlonega, Georgia.  The convention will be held at North Georgia College and State University.

Nicholas Tsui, student of Maxine Parker from 1984 - 1998, won first place in the Music Teachers National Association auditions for the state of Georgia for five years. In 1998, he won the Junior Division for the state of Georgia in the American String Teachers Association.

Matt Simkins began classical guitar studies at the age of fourteen with Maxine Parker. At the age of eighteen, after winning the Music Teachers National Association Competitions for the state of Georgia in 1991 and 1992, he received a scholarship to Florida State University to study with Bruce Holzman. While studying with Ms. Parker, he was asked to perform in master classes of Christopher Parkening and Pepe Romero. He is now in graduate school at Florida State University and recently won the Upper-Collegiate Guitar Competition for the state of Florida in the Music Teachers National Association.  He also won the Southern Division of the MTNA competition in Richmond, VA and will compete in the national finals in Minneapolis in March.
